Windows Phone 7 Series

Windows Phone 7 Series is aimed at helping people connect with their phone in a fresh, new way.

Windows XP is not supported. Pivot only displays in English (US).

Firefox 4 for Windows

Firefox 4 UI has some major changes in App Button. The new button is set to replace the menu toolbar that Firefox users are accustomed to. You can see just how much space the new layout saves when compared to Firefox 3.6.

App Button : An App Button which is similar to the single menu approach taken by Windows 7 native applications (Paint, WordPad) and by MS Office.

The UX team feels this approach has several advantages over the previous idea:

One of the benefits of the App Button is that it is similar to the way Microsoft is treating its native apps and Office. Another benefit is that the placement is closer to where the Menubar would be and therefore it is more familiar.These UI changes are scheduled for Firefox 4.0 only, and will not make it in time for 3.7. And as Recently Firefox predicted FF4.0 may be delayed upto 2011, i am sure inspite of these attractive features it would be out of race.

Windows 7 Starter wallpaper changer

Microsoft prevents the user from changing the Windows 7 Starter wallpaper/background, being one of the constraints Microsoft has put for starter together with a limitation of up to 3 applications simultaneously.

1. Use the Starter Wallpaper Changer utility. This utility can change your background on a Windows 7 Starter. First, open it as administrator and then click Yes for the windows security alert. Locate it on your computer and then click Apply. Then log out and log in back to see the changes.
2. There is a utility by Star dock called My Colors which can be useful too.
3. As an Administrator, reset the permissions on img0.jpg, and overwrite file with any picture.
4. Google more third-party software to change the Wallpaper.

a new licensing bit was introduced – ChangeDesktopBackground-Enabled. On Starter Edition SKUs, this bit is set to 0, disabling background setting capabilities in Windows Photo Viewer and the Display/Theme Control Panel applets. The infection goes deeper into system files shell32.dll and themeui.dll too, hard-coding the wallpaper to %windir%\web\wallpaper\windows\img0.jpg.

Microsoft Releases WAT Update (KB971033) to Disable Windows 7 Activation Cracks and Pirate Copies

Microsoft will introduce a new update to current WAT (Windows Activation Technologies) in order to control piracy and illegal usages up to a decent extend. This new WAT update will be applied before the end of February for Windows 7 users which comes with a number of anti-piracy measures to disable disable over 70 known hacks and cracks used by pirates to activate Windows 7. Visual Studio 2010 RC is now availabe for MSDN Subscribers

 

Microsoft announced the availability of Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate version for MSDN subscribers since 8th Feb 2010. However, general availability will be staring 10th Feb 2010.
Visual Studio 2010 is an integrated development environment that simplifies the entire software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.

Previously Microsoft has released two beta of the same and now its RC. Expected to release in 2nd Week of April 2010 (RTM release), this RC release has no more new features included in the  from beta 2 but the main focus is on speed improvements. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, The RC release delivers enhanced performance and is an added milestone to garner even more customer feedback before the final build is released. Specifically, customers will see performance improvements in loading solutions, typing, building and debugging

With a lot of products being released last year by Google including Google Wave, Chrome OS they have announced yet another product named as “Google Buzz”. But its better then the previos ones and i am liking it. It has an edge over Twitter in terms more information can be shared via Buzz. The content is not limited in length nor does it appear to have limit on the amount of photos that can be uploaded.  Interface is same of gmail, easy to use and there is no limit over what you Upload or post.
